Starting a presentation

Hi all

Here are a couple of notes on what we covered on Sunday, and some links.

The four aspects needing consideration for the very beginning of a presentation are (in no particular order):

  • likeability and credibility
  • dealing with the internal circus
  • curiosity
  • tone

The presentations we analysed were:

Randy Pausch – The Last Lecture

Al Gore – New thinking on the climate crisis

Malcolm Gladwell – What we can learn from spaghetti sauce

Joshua Klein – The amazing intelligence of crows

Jill Bolte Taylor – My stroke of insight

Plus, of course, ‘Miss Congeniality’.

I’ve also done a full watching guide to Josh Klein’s crow vending machine presentation here

Any comments or questions, or if you want links to the books, post here!

See you at the next one.

Andrew
